After 4 years of being annoyed at our driveway, we finally excavated it, allowing for room to open car doors and more room for the kids to play. It was an all-day job, made much easier by the arrival of the Tammingas and their mini-excavator, 3 extra workers and a wheelbarrow. All were much appreciated!
Matthew did a lot of watching. Here he is watching the excavator remove a stump in our backyard. He is sitting with Adrian on our shed roof. Actually a fairly common seat in our backyard.

The stump was enormous!

Jake T. excavated the side yard, being careful to remove the good topsoil which was then wheeled to the backyard and used to fill in our many holes and our sloped yard.

Then we removed the remaining section of wall against the house... Jon had banged the rest out with a jackhammer, but this was left over. Jake made quick work of it by knocking it over and burying it in the side yard.

The backyard is looking great. We planted grass and the cool spring weather has allowed it to grow quite well. The side yard remains a muddy mess, especially when it rains, but we plan to lay gravel there and make some steps to the back yard.
